Welcome to the show, I am your host Muhammad Daud Khan and you are listening program “Main Bhi Pakistan Hoon”. Today, we will talk about the improvised explosive devices (IED) also known as roadside bomb blasts in the show. It is very important topic. I think every Pakistani should know about it because it is the matter of human life. IEDs may be planted in dustbin. It may be produced in form of baby toys etc.  IEDs had brought huge destruction during the guerrilla wars in the world. The IEDs have not only killed innocent people but also destroyed hospitals, bridges and other infrastructure in war hit countries. At least 64 %percent people were killed in the Iraq war till 2007 due to the road side blasts. On the other hand at least 66 % people were killed and injured by roadside bomb blasts in Afghanistan. The Sri Lankan military had also received huge casualties due to the IEDs. Tamial Tigers were used explosive materials against the Sri Lanka’s military. However, they had overcome the issue in 2009.

At least 11,024 people were killed and 25291 injured in the roadside blasts in Pakistan. On the other hand 1,972 buildings, 231 railway tracks, 79 bridges and 360 electric supply poles were destroyed through IEDs in the country.

Recently, a truck driver discovered a strange devise in his vehicle in Kohat tunnel. He called the police and they find a bomb. The police disposed the explosive materials. The driver right decision saved the life of many innocent people. We should also follow the driver.

It is the duty of the concern department to provide security to the people. However, it is the citizens’ responsibility to cooperate with these institutions. How citizens can keep a constant eye in their area to protect it?  You can also share your views with us. Now, we are moving towards your calls.

Call, no-1(Habib Jan from Swat): I appreciate your topic. I think everyone should keep a constant eye on his area. Every citizen can play a better role to overcome this problem. We are Pakistan. Therefore, we should offer our services for the protection of the country.

We are discussing IEDs.  It is being planted near the road sides and other public places. It can kill people indiscriminately and also destroy infrastructure. Therefore, we should inform the police and other law and enforcement agencies in case of any suspected explosive materials in our area. How civilian can assist the police to dispose bombs?
